ABOUT THIS WEEK
Welcome to Uganda, the pearl of Africa!
We will meet at Entebbe-Kampala Airport and spend our first night in a good hotel close by. The following morning we will fly to to Kibale Forest National Park, where in the afternoon we will have our first chimp trekking. The trekking could be pretty long, depending on where the chimps will be found, but don’t worry, the forest is quite flat and the walk is suitable for everyone. After this activity we will relax at the Primate Lodge (in a luxury room) and take a look to our first shoots. The next day we will have an Habituation Experience, this means that we will have the opportunity to spend the whole day with a chimp family, with no rush. We will overnight at Primate Lodge again. The following morning we will drive to the Ishasha Sector of the Queen Elizabeth National Park. We will spend 2 nights here (at Ishasha Wilderness Camp), resting and indulging in some different activities, such as game drives (looking for the famous tree climbing lions) and boat cruises (if we are lucky we would spot the endangered shoebill stork). The next step will be a short drive to reach Bwindi Impenetrable Forest, our accommodation will be just outside the gate, at Silverback Lodge, the starting point of our 2 gorilla trekking. Usually a gorilla trek could be something from 1 hour to 4 hours, depending on which gorilla family we will be allocated. Once you reach your gorilla group you will have 1 hour to take as much picture as you can, they are very strict about timing and that’s why we decided to have a double chance, adding another gorilla trekking. The walk can be challenging but all your efforts will be totally rewarded. We always suggest to hire a porter at the entrance gate, he will help you carrying your photographic equipment and your backpack. On the last morning, a flight transfer will bring us back at Entebbe airport, for the end of this fantastic journey.
OUR PHOTO-SAFARI STYLE
Our photographic safaris and workshops are designed for photographers of all levels, from beginners to experts. There will always be one of our professional photographers to assist you. Our photographic safaris are focused on tracking wildlife, according to the experience of our guides and of the wildlife photographer who will host the group. Taking pictures of gorillas and chimps, in particular, could be tricky. They live in a thick forest and light can be pretty poor. But don’t worry, we will be there to assist you with your camera settings!!!

A UNIQUE OPPORTUNITY AND A LIFE CHANGING EXPERIENCE
A PHOTOGRAPHIC INSIGHT
Photographing black animals (gorillas and chimps) in low light conditions (they are usually found in thick forests) can be tricky, but don’t worry, one of our expert photographers will be there helping you with your camera settings and a lot of suggestions. Be prepared to push your camera to the limits of its capabilities, you will find yourself shooting at very high ISO, usually around 3200 but quite often even more than 5000 in order to have a decent shutter speed. We strongly recommend to bring your brighter lenses, anything from F2.8 or F4 is welcome. Don’t worry for the weight, porters will bring your backpack and your equipment for USD 20 a day. Keep in mind that we will get very close and personal with gorillas and chimps, so that any short lens is workable. For example we suggest the following equipment: 24-70 mm F2.8, 70-200 mm F2.8 plus a long lens for game drives in Queen Elizabeth National Park.
