BOTSWANA – MOBILE CAMP 11-20 AUGUST 2018
OUR PHOTOGRAPHIC SAFARI STYLE
Our photographic safaris are open to photographers to all levels. We always focus on tracking wildlife, according to the experience of our guides and of the wildlife photographer who will host the group. To maximize the photographic aspects, we only accept groups up to 6 guests (4 for this trip), and there will never be more than two people in each row of the car, which will always be reserved for our small group. Our vehicle will always be positioned in the best way possible, thinking both about composition and light, to allow you to have great shots. We will look for interesting scenes and stick to them as long as possible, in order to make the most out of every possible interaction
ABOUT THIS WEEK
Travel with us for ten exciting days of photographic safari through Botswana in close contact with nature, from 11 to 20 August 2018. We’ll move from South to North, from Maun to the Chobe, through the most beautiful areas of this stunning country, camping under the stars. We will start with style, flying over the Okavango Delta in a 45 min. helicopter scenic flight: get ready because you’ll get the most amazing pictures from up there! After the first night in a quite camp outside Maun, lull’d by the sound of painted reed frogs, we’ll move to our exclusive mobile tented camp, set up and waiting for us in Xakanaka, where we will experience the bush with no fences, but not without comforts: to name one, our chef will spoil us cooking delicious dishes from sunrise to sunset. At night, only the noises of the bush around us. Xakanaka is part of the Moremi Game Reserve, which, undoubtedly, ranks as one of the most beautiful reserves in Africa, possibly in the world, boasting one of the richest and most diverse ecosystems on the continent. Moremi covers much of the eastern side of the Okavango Delta and combines permanent water with drier areas, which create some startling and unexpected contrasts. Our activities will be split between land 4×4 game drives, mokoro and boat safaris, to discover the secret life of the small inhabitants of the maze of channels of the Khwai River. So it will be in our next stop: Khwai, always in Moremi. Moving on we’ll head North towards the famous Savuti Marsh area, where we will look for territorial predators and big elephant bulls, the latter have a peculiar predilection for this area. The last area we are going to explore during this journey is the Chobe, in the extreme North of Botswana, from where we will explore, on a private boat and by car, one of the most distinct ecosystems in Africa and probably one of the world’s last true remaining wilderness areas.
Every day sunrise and sunset activities ( both on land and water ) and the tuition of the hosting wildlife photographer available at all times.
But if this is not enough, don’t lose the opportunity to visit the world famous Victoria Falls, in 2 days of extension. Enjoy all the activities at sunset and during the day. The end point of this trip, on the Chobe River, is only one hour and a half from the Falls. Send us an email for info and rates.

FOR 4 PHOTOGRAPHERS ONLY
OUR PHOTOGRAPHIC TARGETS
During this trip we will visit some very different areas, each of them offering amazing photographic opportunities. Our trip will start with a breathtaking 45 minutes flight in helicopter over the Okavango delta, where we will have amazing photographic opportunities. Our itinerary will go throught four different areas of Botswana: Xakanaxa, Khwai, Savuti marsh and Chobe. Each with its own characteristics and with different photographic opportunities. In Khwai and Xakanaxa we’ll be close to the water. Moremi Game Reserve, set in the central and eastern areas of the Okavango, is famous for the abundance and diversity of its wildlife: here we will find species other than those who live in the north of the country. It combines woods and forests of acacia trees, swamps and lagoons; this makes for spectacular game viewing and bird watching, including all major naturally occurring herbivore and carnivore species in the region, and over 400 species of birds, many migratory and some endangered. Water and vegetation attract large amount of birds: among the others, fish eagles, African golden orioles, black herons, various species of ducks, starling, kingfishers, herons, parrots, hoopoes, hornbills and storks. There are many species of antelopes and gazelles, for example sitatunga, lechwe, greater kudus and impala. There are also the larger mammals, like elephants, buffaloes, rhinos, hippos and the other common herbivores. Predators are equally numerous, lions, cheetahs, hyenas, jackals, wild dogs, and leopards are on the menu for our photographic appetites. Both the Khwai River and the Xakanaxa channels will surprise you, a pleasant excursion in mokoro (traditional wooden canoe) will take you between the quiet waters of the delta, surrounded by water lilies. In the Savute marsh area we will go for the big prides of lions and all other predators that always remain in their territories. The Savute became famous, many years ago, for the interaction between lions and elephant: during the dry season lions hunted elephants, and this was quite common! With the Savute channel flowing into the marsh, the frequency of these interactions diminished. We can expect to see bat eared foxes, cheetah and leopards, but also jackals, hyena and even wild dogs are easy to spot in dry conditions. The Savuti region is an exceptional area for bird watching. Among the diverse list of species are the Abdim’s storks, kori bustards, large secretary birds and many different birds of prey. On the Chobe River we will focus on the big herds of elephants and buffaloes that every day reach the river banks to drink and cool off (or to play and swim, in the case of elephants), but also on birds, this is the period when the first migratory birds start to land. Pygmy geese, malachite kingfishers and lovely jacanas trotting over the nymphaea leaves are only a few examples of what we are going to meet. The private boat photo safaris will leave you speechless, allowing you to shoot from a very low angle.
If you reserve the extension, you will end with the stunning world-famous Victoria Falls, where water will be your primary subject.
After spending the first night at the Duncan’s Camp (1hr.30min. from Maun, close to Moremi Game Reserve entrance gate) we will move into our mobile tented camp, which will always be placed in unfenced areas.
We will sleep in spacious tents 3mx3m, 2.20m high, with mosquito nets windows and private bathroom with a chemical toilet and bucket shower with hot water. Double mattresses, duvet, linen, pillows and towels are provided. We will enjoy our meals in the shade of a large tent or around the fire, where we will spend our night, surrounded only by the noises of the bush.
We will not have electricity but it will be possible to recharge the batteries on the safari vehicle. The camp will be set up and moved by the staff.
